Privacy Notice
Last updated September 20, 2026
Beach Bebe LLC, which operates The Homeschool Day, is the business responsible for the personal information described here — the data controller. This notice explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and sign-in credentials (or the Google account you sign in with).
- The records you create — your children's first names and grade levels, subjects, daily checklists, chores, attendance, books and reading minutes, field trips, portfolio entries and progress reports.
- Photos and files you upload to a child's portfolio.
- Support messages you send us.
- Basic usage and device information — such as pages viewed, approximate device and browser type, and IP address, used for security and reliability.
Payment card details are never collected or stored by us — checkout is handled entirely by Paddle.
Why we use it
- To create and run your account and keep you signed in.
- To store, display, print and export the records you enter.
- To manage your trial, subscription and invoices.
- To send reminders and service messages you have turned on.
- To keep the service secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
- To answer support requests and to improve the product.
We rely on performing our contract with you (running your account), our legitimate interests (security, fraud prevention, product improvement), your consent (optional reminders and marketing), and legal obligations (tax and accounting records).
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your children's records for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Service providers who host our application, database and file storage, and who help us with email delivery and error monitoring.
- Paddle, our Merchant of Record, for the sale of the product, subscription management, payments, tax compliance and invoicing.
- Professional advisers such as accountants and lawyers, where necessary.
- Authorities, where we are required to do so by law.
Some of these providers operate in the United States and other countries. Where personal information is transferred out of the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep your account and records for as long as your account is open. If you delete your account, your records, uploaded photos and sign-in details are deleted or anonymised. Limited billing and tax records are retained for as long as the law requires.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete your personal information, to restrict or object to certain uses, or to withdraw consent for optional messages. Much of this is available directly in the app: you can export records from the Records screen and delete your entire account from Settings. To make a request, email support@thehomeschoolday.com and we will respond within one month. If you are in the UK or EEA, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, encrypted storage, access controls, and database rules that keep each family's records visible only to that account.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and similar browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember preferences such as Kid Mode. These are required for the app to work. Paddle sets cookies during checkout to process your payment. You can clear or block cookies in your browser, though signing in will not work without the essential ones.
Children
Accounts are created and controlled by a parent or guardian. Children do not have their own logins; the checklist is shown through the parent's account. Information about a child is entered by the parent, who can edit or delete it at any time.
